The Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE Is the Camaro For the Track

The Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE is the ultimate Camaro -- and it's designed for the race track. Today I'm reviewing the ZL1 1LE, and I'm going to show you all the quirks and features of the best Camaro around. I'm also driving the ZL1 1LE to show you what it's like on the road.

I saw one of these while I was cruising in my Type R today... Hmmm.... I never liked Camaro but I always loved cars that appear to be track prepped from the factory... Should I consider trading my Civic Type R for one of these in the future? Would I regret it? I would like to see if I can somehow test drive one of these.

I wish more car manufacturers with just offer rev-matching on their cars instead of just doing away with the manual transmission all together, and I think more people would be interested in to learning how to drive a manual transmission I know I would...

  14. Cybercity Oedo 808

    Cybercity Oedo 808Prieš 20 dienų

If you want to learn manual, I recommend the Civic Type R FK8, it is the most user friendly manual car I have ever owned and driven. It is practically impossible to stall it becuase it has an anti stall feature. However, it is better if you learn on a Manual transmission car without auto rev matching (or turn the feature off tl learn ), then you can drive a car with it. The reason is that if you end up having to drive a car without auto rev matching you won't know what to do having not learned it normally. Having said that, auto rev matching is an amazing feature in my Type R but it is still important to learn normal rev matching. My STI does not have auto rev matching, but I enjoy rev matching... Sometimes the car rewards me with a small backfire and crackles.

  17. 19physaly

You should have taken it to the track and you would have realized it beat the snot out of every car you mentioned with it. There’s a reason why Chevy hasn’t had to add anymore power. Those other cars have more power but they can’t put it to the ground. Ford delayed the release of the new GT500 almost 2 years because of this bad ass Camaro and it still can’t beat it. I usually love your reviews but I don’t think you gave the Camaro it’s due. Do u know about the multimatic suspension it has? Look at its Nurburgring times. It beats a lot of Ferrari’s, Porsche’s and McLaren’s. These aren’t my opinions, just facts. Sorry if I was harsh, keep up the reviews!

Since I have one, I'll just adjust some things. The zl1 1le not only had lighter wheels, but smaller too. 19x11" wheels up front, and 19x12" rear. They will hold a 345, and even make them stretch. The canards are for down force The rear seat DOES fold down, but you have to manually push it from the trunk (they all do). If I remember correctly, they put a different gear ratio in the zl1 1le for the track, so that's why its limited to 190 or whatever. I've topped mine out pretty much.

I will buy it Doug. I know the automatic is faster. I grew up in the area of Mustang 5.0 having 225 hp and that was quick at his time. Grew up with Mitsubishi Station having 189 horsepower and that was quick in its era. I feel American Muscle is manual transmission. You hear that music of that 650 horsepower. I want to feel the American Automobile Ancestry of 1957 Chevy history. American Muscle is made for the track.

The backseat does fold forward, Doug doesn’t know shit about this car. The numbers are not on par with the gt350, they’re better. The demon costs way more than this car and you don’t see a lot of hell cats on the track. It’s really impressive how god damn stupid Doug is. No the interiors are not the same. Pretty much everything he says in this video is either wrong or just plain idiotic. Just look at his big dumb mouth breathing face, it’s obvious there’s some chromosomal abnormalities going on there.

The more I look at the Camaro, the more I like the looks. I rented a 2020 Hertz Hendrix SS Camaro in December for a couple of days (the black one with yellow stripes) and I enjoyed the car. The only downside for me was an excellent automatic transmission. The transmission itself is fine, but it is no manual and it was a serious drawback for me to the driving experience. Manual transmission vehicles are just that much nicer to drive IMHO. My wife did not like the fact that she could not lift her (passenger) seat high enough so that she could see out of the car and she was complaining. From the driver's seat, I did not have problems with visibility around me, which was fine. I thought that the trunk was fine and the opening was ok to slide a large-ish checked luggage with room to spare. The headlights are bad and can be unsafe. The up-down boundary between the dark and the light beam is just too sharp: I was driving down one of the steep hills in downtown San Francisco and I almost completely missed a men crossing the road in front of me because the headlights were pointing just below his feet and completely missed him. Fortunately, my speed was only around 20 mph so I could brake in time. My 19 Bullitt's headlights, also LEDs, are much safer. Any older car is much safer because headlights are more diffuse and would have lit the man. GM should issue a recall on these headlights, I think. Otherwise, the car was very enjoyable.

WRONG!!!!!! The 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 is the “track car”!

  78. Vernon Price

    Vernon PricePrieš mėn

@Bruce Tumblin Jr That's the standard ZL1 weight., ZL1 1LE is 3820 lbs. And you can prefer whatever you want, but the ZL1 1LE is the absolutely superior track car.

  79. Bruce Tumblin Jr

    Bruce Tumblin JrPrieš mėn

Vernon Price it’s not lighter at 3907 lbs compared to 3820 but either way I’d still prefer an older Z/28 in mint condition

  80. Vernon Price

    Vernon PricePrieš mėn

@Bruce Tumblin Jr But it isn't though, objectively speaking. The ZL1 1LE is considerably more hardcore, faster on a track regardless of transmission - you can still get a manual with the ZL1 1LE, btw, it's lighter stiffer, faster, better damped all around, better balanced with a superior chassis, and has an insane amount of downforce that the Z/28 doesn't have.

  81. Bruce Tumblin Jr

    Bruce Tumblin JrPrieš mėn

Vernon Price I know but the Z/28 has a N/A engine, wider tires all around, only came with a 6-speed manual transmission, it’s just a more track focused car in my opinion

  82. Vernon Price

    Vernon PricePrieš mėn

That's a previous generation Camaro and its not made any more. The ZL1 1LE is arguably more of a track car with its DSSV shocks and even more extreme aero and downforce. It's quite a lot faster than the Z/28 ever was.
